Dear Comrades
Fast food Workers in the united states are registering victory after victory. The fight for $15 and a union is winning increases in minimum wage in cities across the states. Some of the most oppressed working class people in America are driving the political agenda of the Presidential election and forcing the likes of Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama to make statements in support of their cause and in support of unions in general.
Workers in the US started in the same position as workers in the UK with small numbers of fast food workers engaged with the union. A small group of workers in New York, came out on strike and triggered a national phenomenon
We can do the same.
The BFAWU are calling for a £10 an hour minimum wage and an end to zero hour contracts.
Listen here to a recent inspiring documentary on the fight for $15 and the fight for £10
Our aim is to learn from the successes in the US and repeat them here.
We are asking for all comrades in the food industry weather that coffee shops, bars or fast food outlets to join the BFAWU.
We also call on comrades to help us approach workplaces and begin the process of recruitment to the bfawu and supporters in improving the Terms of Conditions in workplaces across the uk.
