Lincoln train
drivers strike to defend pensions
11 May On
Wednesday 1st May we had our first strike called by the ASLEF
members of East Midlands Trains. I was really pleased with the
turnout from our members at Lincoln. With Lincoln City Council
holding elections this Thursday, TUSC candidates Lucy Bland,
Gavyn Graham and Nick Parker went to visit the picket line and
offer their support.

It was reassuring that members of the public were giving us the
thumbs up and motorists sounding their horns in support of our
action. We are obviously concerned about the travelling public
being disrupted during our industrial action but this is down to
East Midlands Trains and not ASLEF. If you look on the ASLEF
website you will see a message from our General Secretary Mick
Whelan dated 30th April 2012 stating that the union have tried
negotiating and resolving this for the best part of a year.
Why hasn’t East Midlands Trains?
We have further strikes called for Tuesday 15th May and Thursday
17th May.
Pensions are important to us all. We all deserve dignity in
retirement. So we hope you will be understanding as we fight to
protect our pensions.
