Victory for RMT cleaners at John Laing
16
November Yesterday the NSSN website reported on the
disgraceful collusion between
John Laing management and the UK Border Force to break union
organisation at the company.
This morning a protest at John Laing met
with total victory as management capitulated to all of the unions demands. Not
only did management sign a union recognition agreement with the RMT on the spot,
they also promised to write a reference for an RMT rep to the Home Office in
order to ensure the rep stays in the country and is not deported.
Commenting on this breakthrough Steve
Headley, London Region RMT organiser said:
"The signing off of the recognition deal was
a result of text book campaigning by local reps supported by the whole RMT
family. The agreement to consult with the RMT concerning any immigration issues
was brought about by a combination of industrial pressure and vociferous
campaigning"
The NSSN extends it's warmest
congratulations to the cleaners at John Laing and the RMT for this magnificent
victory. |
