PCS
MEMBERS IN JOBCENTREPLUS TO STRIKE ON 18 APRIL
13 April
PCS entered into
negotiations in good faith but management have shown little
willingness to resolve the dispute. So PCS has called for a day's
strike action in all the 37 Jobcentreplus call centres on Monday 18th
April. Picket lines will be held around 7.30 - 9.30am on the 18th
April - trade unionists and anti-cuts campaigners showing their
support will be very welcome. PCS members want to be able to provide
quality services to the public which is being adversely affected by
management's obsession with targets and monitoring our members. This
goes as far as monitoring toilet breaks with our members being told
they are restricted to 12 minutes a day.
Bad working conditions
and bad job design that is not focussed on helping the public,
contribute to the highest sickness absence and turnover in the
Department for Work and Pensions. PCS members demonstrated their anger
in January when we took 2 days strike action in the 7 offices that
have been transferred from being benefit processing centres into call
centres. We will now show the determination of members across all 37
call centres for the strike on the 18th April to exert pressure on
management to meet our reasonable demands.
You can support the
strike by donating to the PCS hardship fund at PCS DWP Group Office,
3rd Floor, Town Centre House, Merrion Centre, Leeds, LS2 8LY. Cheques
should be made payable to DWP Group hardship account.
