A letter
of thanks to the NSSN from Youth Fight for Jobs
Youth Fight for Jobs would like to thank the NSSN for supporting and
publicising our campaign.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Jarrow march.
In 1936 200 unemployed men marched from Jarrow in the North-East to
London. They were
demanding jobs and that the government do something to alleviate the
miserable living conditions they faced.
If the present crisis has demonstrated anything it’s that this system
is incapable of solving those problems once and for all. The
questions of jobs and living standards will confront working class
people again and again. The difference now we have more to lose. We
are fighting to defend the gains made by working class people in the
last 75 years.
At the moment there are just under 1 million young people unemployed,
and that’s before the government has even carries out its brutal
austerity programme. This government is intent on driving our rights
and living conditions back to the ‘30’s Young people are being hit the
hardest by these attacks.
That’s why in October Youth Fight for Jobs will do the Jarrow march.
In towns and cities on the way to
London we want to have
massive protests and rallies against the cuts. Starting with a
national demo in Jarrow the day the march sets off on October 1st
and ending with another demo in
London on November 5th.
We want the march to become a rallying point for the anti-cuts
movement in
Britain.
The role of trade union is going be key in beating back this
government of Bullingdon Boys. That’s why we want to link up with
union to make the Jarrow march the start of a united fight back of
young unemployed, workers and students. We call on all NSSN supporters
to back the march. You should discuss it in your union branches and
support the march.

Thanks and again for all your support and we look forward to working
together with you in the future.
Cheers,
